Yangon, Myanmar

Yangon, Myanmar

Donna Chowduri, 60 years old, is a Hindu who has assimilated to the ways of a Myanmarese - i.e. betel nut chewing (red stains on his teeth). His mum hails from Calcutta and dad from Bangladesh and they settled on Burmese soil due to the forced migration during the colonial rule of British India. He has never been back to India because the cost is too prohibitive. Even though he has lived all his life in Yangon, he still doesn't have a Myanmar citizenship and is thus considered an alien in his own 'native' land.
