A large number of residents of Kuala Lumpur are originally from out of state and there is a is large exodus from the city as people drive back to their hometowns for CNY. A three-hour journey on a normal day can easily turn into a six-hour, half day ordeal due to crawling traffic resulting from car accidents along the main highway which connects the North to South of peninsular Malaysia.
